Let's meet Berlin Marathon

The Berlin Marathon after the unfortunate cancellation of the 2020 has now been announced. The 45th edition of the Berlin Marathon will take place on 26 September 2021! The fastest marathon on Earth is back!
The Berlin Marathon started in 1974 as a small event through the Grunewald forest near Berlin. Over the years the race has grown into one of the World Marathon Majors and onto the city streets.
The race starts on the six-lane Strasse des 17 Juni and is run in an average annual temperature of 13 degrees C . The course takes in some of East and West Berlin’s great sights, before finishing just beyond the magnificent Brandenburg Gate and close to The Reichstag.
As well as the marathon, there is the International Breakfast Run on Saturday morning, which finishes in the 1936 Olympic Stadium, and is a thoroughly enjoyable event. You can also watch the Inline Skating on Saturday afternoon.
In the 2018 marathon Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya smashed the world record (previously set in Berlin in 2014 by Dennis Kimetto) by almost 1 minute and twenty seconds, with a new time of 2:01:39. The world record has been broken five times in Berlin over the past ten years.
